Objectives | This research studies the issues of governance and local institutionalism. It examines the role of institutions in building a civil society; ability of actors to establish rational institutions; ways of introducing transparent and accountable mechanisms; as well as formal and informal institutions that hinder or help good governance and the rule of law in central, provincial and district levels. It analyses the extent of assumption that institutions loosen their efficiency farther the city and/or town is located from the center. To test this hypothesis field researches will be conducted in the capitals and second largest towns of three periphery and borderland provinces of Ferghana, Khorezm and Surkhandarya. It also gives policy choices for the extent of social, economic and political transformations and measures of building cohesive institutional arrangements that will serve for society’s sustainable development and durable stability. |
