Institutional Vulnerability and the Governance of Disaster Risk Reduction: Macro, Meso and Micro Analysis

The main objective of the dissertation is to provide a new framework and methods to assess institutional vulnerability in order to understand institutions and governance of disaster risk reduction at macro, meso and micro level. The following are the specific objectives of the study

• Provide a new framework for institutional vulnerability assessment at macro scale.
• Provide a new framework for institutional vulnerability assessment at meso and micro level.
• Understand the polycentric governance as the road map of risk and vulnerability reduction at national level
• Understanding the linkages of global, national and local (or macro-meso-micro) connections of disaster risk reduction.

This PhD research is based on two research questions: 1. How institutional vulnerability is measured quantitatively and qualitatively at macro scale and how to reduce vulnerability of institutions at meso and micro level?

Draft outlines of this PhD dissertation is as follows:
Chapters outline and design
• Chapter 1. Introduction to context and research context
• Chapter 2. Theories, Concepts and Research Framework
• Chapter 3. Research methods
