Irene Ampaabeng
Ms. Irene Ampaabeng has been working as a Principal Research Assistant at the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) since March, 2005. She is a product of the joint graduate programme in Spatial Planning for Regions in Growing Economies (SPRING) between the University of Dortmund, Germany and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and graduated in 2004 with MSc. in Development Planning and Management. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from the University of Cape Coast. Her research interests include land tenure, urban development and poverty issues.

Synopsis of PhD Research
This proposed study seeks to investigate the emerging trends in Ghana’s urban land market and assess the extent to which urbanization has influenced land market distortions in the country by studying the case of the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area (GAMA). The study is expected to come out with recommendations to inform policy options for Ghana’s urban land market.
