PHD TOPIC: LIVELIHOOD STRATEGIES OF STREET CHILDREN IN GHANA

Urbanization and its resulting problems have brought in its wake a looming gloom in the lives of some children in Ghana. Steady migration to capital and more affluent cities have increased the burden of city planners and the government creating the uncomfortable phenomenon of street children. Poverty is no longer limited to rural areas as the situation has been worsened by scores of migrants to big cities and towns. The unequal opportunities that have pushed young children into the streets to fend for themselves will be the focus of this study. This study will examine several variables related to the livelihood strategies of street children and its effects on city planning and housing opportunities among others. This study will assist city planners and policy makers giving them insights on how to effectively tackle the phenomenon.
