Mrs. Juliana Ashaley-Nikoi holds an MPhil. in French and an MA. in Development Studies from the University of Ghana. She also holds a BA. in French with Political Science.

PHD TOPIC: STRATEGIES OF TRANSITION OF WOMEN OWNED INFORMAL ENTERPRISES TO FORMAL ENTERPRISES IN GHANA: THE FOOD AND BEVERAGE INDUSTRY.

The informal sector of Ghana according to studies has the largest chunk of workers who constitute most of the marginalized working groups such as women. Further it is attested by research that the food and beverage processing and sale is dominated by women who unfortunately cannot employ, grow and transition these businesses into fully fledged formal enterprises to better their lot.  It is in this light that this research topic is chosen to find how better these marginalized groups could be propped to evolve their businesses for better prosperity. The fulcrum of this research is to explore the strategies of moving these informal businesses up the ladder and to use the information so acquire to feed forward future policy formulation for development.
