German-Bolivian Partnership for integrating biodiversity measures in environmental impact assessments

The project “German-Bolivian Partnership for integrating biodiversity measures in environmental impact assessments” has the aim to strengthen biodiversity conservation as part of environmental impact assessments (EIAs) in Bolivia through collaboration between Universidad Católica Boliviana (UCB), Cochabamba, and the Center for Development Research (ZEF), University of Bonn, involving environmental engineers, nature conservation practitioners and policy makers.

This exchange together with the establishment of a long-term relationship as well as the engagement of other stakeholders such as policy makers and NGOs will help to build local capacities to conduct EIAs considering local specific impacts on biodiversity. In addition, the long-term partnership could enhance the implementation of a doctoral program at UCB in Bolivia with a strong focus on biodiversity conservation. This program is expected to be a joint future project to carry on with the collaboration and to benefit from the experience of ZEF and its international doctoral program.

The project is financially supported by the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD.

Duration of the Project: from 2015 to 2018.
