Abstract

Postcolonial perspectives have gained ground during the last decade, but have recently been confronted with accusations of antisemitism. Examples are the political theorist Achille Mbembe, the genocide scholar Dirk Moses or the art exhibition documenta 15. Especially after the Hamas attack on October 7, there have been calls to stop funding postcolonial studies in general. The talk will look at some of these conflicts and shed light on the reasons for these accusations, also using a theory of hegemony and postcolonial theory to make sense of them.
