Lecture on Migration from Latin America to Spain

November 14, 2016 | 18:00 h - 19:30 h

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear colleagues,

The Center for Development Research (ZEF) contributes to a seminar series organized by the Adult Education Center (VHS) of  Bonn on Fleeing and Migration in Latin America.

We cordially invite you to the next lecture by Prof. Dr. Eva Youkhana on Migration from Latin America to Spain.

Time and place: Monday, November 14, 2016

6-7:30 p.m. at ZEF (ground floor right conference room)

Abstract of lecture:

The financial crisis in Europe had a severe impact on Spain and especially its migrants on many levels, due to unemployment, stricter Immigrations Acts, repercussions of the mortgage meltdown, rassism and xenophobia. Despite the current discourse, which reduces migrants to their role of being victims and passive recipients of regulatory actions for integration, poverty eradication and seclusion, Prof. Dr. Eva Youkhana depicts the individual initiatives, practices in daily life and negotiation processes of the migrants in selected areas of the immigration country.
