On May 23 ZEF will organize a side event to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)'s 36th session of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA).

On May 24, the competence network 'Crossroads Asia' organizes an experts' workshop where the impacts of Afghanistan's long-standing war on migration patters, the emergence of diasporas and trans-local networks will be analyzed and discussed.

ZEF and the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan are organizing a workshop on ‘Agricultural knowledge governance and advisory services in post-Soviet Tajikistan’, which is held on April 17-18, 2012 in the Agrarian University of Tajikistan in Dushanbe.

January 2012. Collaboration partners of two projects within the “German-Pakistani Research Collaboration Program”, initiated and funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), have been visiting ZEF. Read more about the collaboration in the interviews.

The Montpellier Panel presented its new report ‘Growth with Resilience: Opportunities in African Agriculture’ at the European Commission, Brussels on March 22. The report looks at agriculture’s role in supporting green growth and food and nutrition security, among others. ZEF-Director Joachim von Braun is a member of the experts' panel.

Dr Jan Börner was inaugurated as a Robert Bosch Junior Professor at the University of Bonn yesterday, March 22, 2012. He is going to start his research on the sustainable use of tropical rain forests in Brazil at ZEF in August 2012.

ZEF will host the official inauguration of this year's Robert Bosch Junior Professorship for Sustainable Use of Natural Resources on March 22. This year's awardee is Jan Börner, a former ZEF student and researcher.

Representatives of 10 West African states and Germany have signed a political agreement for cooperation within the West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) initiative. The official ceremony took place in Lomé, Togo, on February 10.

At the conference "Food Secure Arab World: A Roadmap for Policy and Research", held by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia and the International Food Policy Research Institute in Beirut on February 6, ZEF-Director Joachim von Braun gave a keynote speech.

Around 20 scholars participated in an international workshop organized by ZEF on "Civil society in Vietnam and Cambodia: Concepts and discourses - diversity in practice" from January 18-20, 2012, and discussed recent developments in both countries related to civil society.

ZEF has been listed for the third year in succession in the “Global Go To Think Tanks” report 2011. ZEF is on place 10 of the global Top Thirty Science and Technology Think Tanks and on place 15 of the global Best University Affiliated Think Tanks.

ZEF will hold an international workshop on "Civil society in Vietnam and Cambodia: Concepts and discourses - diversity in practice" from January 18-20, 2012. The workshop includes a public session with two lectures on January 18, 4 p.m. held by Adam Fforte and Sedara Kim.
