Subject: Invitation to contribute to a Special Issue of Sustainability Science
Dear Colleagues,
I am preparing a special issue on Land Use and Environmental Sustainability for Sustainability Science Journal (http://www.springer.com/west/home?SGWID=4-102-70-144940151-0). Papers are sought from a broad spectrum of scholars who undertake research at local, regional or global scale in the main components of Land Change Science Research, namely Observation, Monitoring, and Land Characterization; Causes of land-use change, including impacts and feedbacks of driving factors; Spatially explicit modeling of land change; and Assessments of system outcomes, such as vulnerability, resilience, or sustainability. Of particular interest are contributions that solve major research challenges such as detection of subtle land cover changes (e.g. land degradation), modeling of agricultural intensification including the endogeneity of land management technologies, infrastructures, land-use policies and other variables, identification of causal links between ecosystem processes and ecosystem services and their dependence on biodiversity, and the identification of tipping points beyond which the resilience of the land system is lost. Abstracts of no more than 250 words should be submitted by 29 February 2008 to info@glp.hokudai.ac.jp. Final papers of 6000-8000 words will be due on 19 September 2008 for publication in 2009. All submitted papers will be subject to full peer review.
Specific enquiries should be addressed to info@glp.hokudai.ac.jp
