Opening for Junior Professorship in International Agricultural Economics

The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Göttingen invites applications

 

for a

 

Junior Professorship (W1) in International

 

Agricultural Economics

 

 

starting in December 2008. The position is available for six years, with an initial term of three years and a second term of three years subject to successful evaluation. The appointee will represent the field in teaching and research. In particular, analyses on emerging international supply chains for high-value agricultural products and the implications for developing and transition countries are expected. This also includes economic aspects of food safety and quality standards. Applicants should hold a superior PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., agricultural/ resource economics, economics). Furthermore, they should be familiar with quantitative economic research methods and be interested in interdisciplinary cooperation. Research experience in developing or transition countries would be an asset. Teaching will primarily be in English, but the willingness to learn German within the first two years is assumed.

 

 

 

Preconditions for appointment are laid down in § 25 of the Higher Education Law of Lower Saxony of 26.02.2007 (Official Law Gazette of Lower Saxony, Nds. GVBl. 5/2007, p. 69). As a Public Law Foundation, the University of Göttingen holds the right of appointment. Further details will be explained on inquiry.
