BANKRUPTCY AND DISTRESS RESOLUTION
12 - 13 December 2008

Dear Sir/Madam,
The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and
the Financial Law Institute of Ghent University are pleased
to invite you to an academic conference on Bankruptcy and
Distress Resolution. We would like to encourage you to
submit a paper and share this announcement with interested
colleagues.
Authors are invited to submit papers for a conference on
Bankruptcy and Distress Resolution.
TOPICS:
Both theoretical and empirical analysis contributing to the
economic and legal literature on reorganization and
liquidation of distressed firms will be considered.
Specific attention will be devoted to court-supervised and
out-of-court reorganization. Possible research topics
include, but are not limited to:
- The role of creditors in the reorganization of distressed
firms
- The liquidation preference of secured creditors
- Conflicts between (1) junior and senior creditors, and
(2) debt and equity
- The effects of creditors on managerial delay decisions
and procedure selection
- The effects of creditor rights on financial contracting
and reorganization practices

conference will take place in the historical centre of
Ghent, one of Belgium's oldest cities and the historic
capital of Flanders.

INNOVATION AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY IN FINANCIAL SERVICES

Helsinki, 16-17 October 2008
The Bank of Finland, Centre for Economic Policy Research
and the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia are inviting
submissions to the 9th Annual Bank of Finland/CEPR
Conference. The conference aims at bringing together
scholars to present and discuss the latest research on
innovation and intellectual property in financial markets
and financial services sectors, including payment media,
securities markets infrastructure, and corporate finance.
Both theoretical and empirical papers are welcome.

Skolkovo is a newly-established business school in Moscow,
Russia. The school is funded and is a priority project of
the Russian government. We aim to grow entrepreneurial
leaders for fast-moving economies and to become the
knowledge center on leading and managing change in those
economies. Our degree programs will start in 2009.
JOB DESCRIPTION/QUALIFICATIONS:
To realize this exciting venture, we are looking for
entrepreneurial academics who are thought leaders and have
a research agenda (or are willing to develop one) around
critical management issues in fast-moving economies such as

The Danish National Centre for Social Research is an
independent governmental research centre specializing in
applied society relevant research and research-based
elucidations and evaluations. The aim of the research is to
contribute to legislation and administration by providing a
better understanding of social, economics and working
conditions in Denmark.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Research Professor is expected to enhance the
competencies of the centre through the following
activities:
- Own research within the framework of the centre's
research programme and dissemination of research results
on public administration.
- Supervision and advise to Ph.D. students, post docs, and
young researchers at the centre.
- Supervision and operation of larger research projects.
- Participation in quality control procedures for research
papers as well as other reports.
- Develop international research cooperation.
- Participation in studies and evaluations of Danish policy
issues.
- Advise to the Centre on research issues.
The Research Professor is also anticipated to take active
part in intensifying the centre's collaboration with
Political Science and Sociology Departments at Danish
Universities, in particular at Aarhus University and the
University of Copenhagen.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should have a strong scientific background in
the research field covered by this position. The applicant
must have a track record of publication in international
scientific journals or similar and be involved In
international networks of researchers working in the same
field. Applicants must also have a profound ability to
provide inspiration and guidance for other researchers.
A demonstrated ability to define and operate research
projects as well as to raise the necessary funding is
required. A broad research experience as well as experience
in teaching and several other forms of dissemination of
research results is desirable.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND SALARY:
The position is a five-year research professorship, with a
possible extension for up to three years. The terms of employment
will be in accordance with Danish Collective agreements for
scientific staff at governmental research institutes with a salary
in the range of DKK 520.000-570.000 p.a. depending on
qualifications and experience, plus pension scheme. Health
insurance is provided free of charge for Danish residents.
