CALL FOR PAPERS
CONFERENCE IN HONOUR OF PROFESSOR ADRIAN PAGAN
Sydney, July 13th-14th 2009
In July 2009 a two-day conference in Sydney will celebrate
the work of Professor Adrian Pagan. Professor Pagan's work
has had great impact on econometrics and applied
macroeconomics, and we invite papers which contribute in
either of those streams for presentation at the conference.
CONFERENCE DETAILS:
Invited keynotes will be given by Professor Hashem Pesaran
and Professor Pravin Trivedi. The conference will follow
immediately from the Econometric Society Australasian
Meetings 2009 (ESAM09), to be held at the Australian
National University, see:
for details. Prospective contributors to both conferences
should make separate submissions (of different papers) to
each conference, because the conference organisers will not
consider the same paper for presentation at both
conferences.

ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS
2009 AUSTRALASIAN MEETING OF THE ECONOMETRIC SOCIETY
July 7th to July 10th
Canberra, Australia
The Econometric Society Australasian Meeting in 2009
(ESAM09) will be held in Canberra, Australia, from July 7th
to July 10th. ESAM09 will be hosted by the College of
Business and Economics at the Australian National
University, and the program committee will be co-chaired by
Heather Anderson and Maria Racionero. The program will
include plenary, invited and contributed sessions in all
fields of economics.
PAPER SUBMISSIONS/REGISTRATION:
Prospective contributors are invited to submit titles and
abstracts of their papers in both theoretical and applied
economics and econometrics by March 6th 2009 via the
conference website at:
Each person may submit only one paper, or be a co-author on
others providing that they will present no more than one
paper. At least one coauthor must be a member of the
Society or must join prior to submission.
The ESAM09 conference website contains details about the
program, invited speakers, the paper submission process and
conference registration.
There will be a Conference in honour of Professor Adrian
Pagan, that will be held in Sydney, Australia, on July 13th
and 14th, immediately after ESAM09. Prospective
contributors to both conferences should make separate
submissions (of different papers) to each conference, as
the conference organisers will not consider the same paper
for presentation at both conferences.

CONFERENCE ON HOUSING AND MORTGAGE MARKETS
December 4-5, 2008
Washington, D.C.
In the past fifteen years, there have been dramatic changes
in housing and mortgage markets, including broader access
to credit, increased homeownership, high house price
appreciation, and the recent large increase in mortgage
foreclosures. As part of its Homeownership and Mortgage
Initiatives, the Federal Reserve System is sponsoring a
research conference to advance our understanding of the
causes and consequences of these developments as well as
potential policy responses.
The program will include presentations of research papers
with discussants and a policy panel that will include
Governor Randall S. Kroszner. Chairman Ben S. Bernanke will
deliver the keynote speech.
TOPICS:
The program committee will consider both theoretical and
empirical submissions and is especially interested in
papers dealing with:
1. Household homeownership choices and household mortgage
and other credit decisions;
2. Causes of foreclosures, their implications, and policy
responses;
3. House prices and housing market dynamics;
4. Mortgage financing: originate to distribute and
securitization, successes, failures and solutions.
PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:
The submission deadline is September 19, 2008. Papers

Specialist for Baker Research Services, Knowledge and
Library Services, Harvard Business School.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The position draws on expert-level business-related subject
knowledge and information research methodologies expertise
to support research at the Harvard Business School (HBS).
As part of a team-based service department within Knowledge
and Library Services, works primarily with HBS faculty,
research assistants, and doctoral students to determine
research data and analytical needs and develop plans for
supporting research projects, personally implementing or
managing the implementation of those plans. Responds to
customers' information research needs using electronic,
printed, and other types of information sources.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Researches, identifies, evaluates, obtains, accesses,
interprets, and analyzes text and quantitative information
and data from printed and digital sources, including, but
not limited to: macroeconomic, financial, accounting, and
securities data; and, where appropriate, information
collected from third-party and non-traditional sources.
Builds and manages coherent databases, merges data from
multiple sources and formats; performs statistical
analyses; creates spreadsheets, graphs and databases
representing results of research and analyses; consults
with and advises researchers on optimal methodologies and
interpretations of results.
Serves as backup to Senior Information Researcher in
providing colleagues and customers with training,
maintenance, and support for specialized research databases
and analytical software in Baker Library Services and the
Division of Research and Faculty Development's Faculty
Research Computing Center.
Responsible for completing a varying number of long-term
research projects as well as responding to quick-turnaround
information requests.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters degree or equivalent graduate education in
Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, or other
relevant discipline. Second Masters degree in related
field highly desirable.
- Minimum 2-4 years of professional-level information
research work experience.
- Broad knowledge of business topics including corporate
finance and accounting; solid understanding of business
and economics concepts and related quantitative measures.
Demonstrated skills and experience in the use of common
tools for information access, management, analysis, and
presentation. Demonstrated ability to access and extract
information from data in a variety of formats.
- Record of involvement in empirical investigations in
business and/or economics or research experience in a
large corporate or academic library.
- Demonstrated dedication, flexibility, creativity, and
adaptability in the uses and management of available
resources and in identifying, evaluating, acquiring,
accessing, and employing new resources.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and thrive in a
high-paced, changing, collaborative environment. Able to
produce timely, high quality results under pressure.
- Highly developed skills in information organization,
presentation and delivery; critical thinking; customer
service; initiative.
- Demonstrated record of managing customer relationships,
setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and
sharing workloads and projects with a research team.
- Deep experience using SAS and Excel essential, some
knowledge of STATA and SPSS desirable. Intermediate to
advanced desktop and/or UNIX computer skills.
- Knowledge of standard business research databases,
including COMPUSTAT, CRSP, SDC, Datastream, Bloomberg,
IBES, Morningstar, and Research Insight is desirable.
- Excellent organizational, writing, communication and
interpersonal skills.
- Record of involvement in the mentoring and coaching of
junior research staff and novice researchers.
