'Development on the margin': Tropentag 2011 in Bonn

'Development on the margin' is the overall theme of the Tropentag 2011, taking place at the University of Bonn from October 5-7, 2011.
The deadline for submitting abstracts is May 15, 2011. The conference language is English. Abstracts of original research comprising 250-350 words can be submitted via an online form available at www.tropentag.de.
Based on the abstracts, a panel of reviewers will decide upon the acceptance of the contributions. The decision for a contribution to be accepted either as a poster or as an oral presentation is at the discretion of these reviewers. Contributions of an interdisciplinary nature will be preferentially selected as oral presentations.
Poster contributions will be grouped into thematic clusters and will be addressed in guided poster sessions. Notifications of acceptance will be sent on July 15, 2011.
All accepted contributions will be published in the conference proceedings and on the Tropentag homepage. Contributions not presented at the Tropentag will be deleted from the online version of the proceedings. Authors of presented contributions are free to submit a four-page version of their paper before October 30, 2011 for online publication.
We especially encourage young scientists to submit their contributions.

TRAVEL GRANTS by AGRINATURA
The AGRINATURA association will support Tropentag 2011 and will award travel grants of 500 € each to eight students from AGRINATURA member institutions (excluding German universities). Students are invited to simultaneously submit their abstracts to the Tropentag Conference (www.tropentag.de) and send the abstract and a request for a travel grant to the AGRINATURA secretariat (e-mail: secretariat@agrinatura.eu). As soon as the abstracts are accepted by the Tropentag conference committee, the AGRINATURA committee will select eight students who will receive a travel grant. Please note that the student has to attend the conference personally in order to receive a travel grant.
Besides, AGRINATURA will grant the Best Poster Award of 1000 € to the best poster among the eight travel grant awardees.
