Alumni from the DAAD Centres of African Excellence enhance their cooperation network.

February 19, 2019.

ZEF is partner and co-founder of one of the DAAD African Excellence Centres, the Ghanaian German Centre for Development Studies. It is run in cooperation with the Institute of the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research ISSER of the University of Ghana and funded by the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD.

Over the past years, Alumni of the DAAD African Centres of Excellence have initiated meetings to enhance networking and exchange. ZEF has been supporting this effort. Last year, the Ghanaian German Centre for Development Studies organized the second Alumni conference of DAAD Centres for African Excellence in Accra, Ghana. This year, from February 18-22, ZEF is facilitating the Alumni Steering Committee meeting in Bonn.

For this purpose, ten Alumni from six African countries (Ghana, Cameroon, Kenya, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Uganda) are at ZEF in Bonn to discuss the progress the network has achieved and the challenges it faced after last year's meeting. Alumni present and discuss the output of the developed work and  promote the consolidation of their network, in order to make its goal and strategy clearer.

On February 21, the alumni and the ZEF team of the Ghanaian German Centre for Development Studies will be meeting with Dr. Dorothee Weyler, the DAAD Program Manager of the Centres of African Excellence at the DAAD Head Office in Bonn.
