University in Brunei starts international cooperation on biodiversity – including University of Bonn and ZEF

An ‘international Consortium of Universities for the Study of Biodiversity
and the Environment’ (iCUBE) was inaugurated in Darussalem, Brunei, on January 29, 2011 by the Minister for Development of Brunei.
Consortium members are the Universiti Brunei Darussalam, King's College London, University Korea, Monash University Melbourne, National University of Singapore, University of Auckland, University of Bonn and University of North Carolina.
Prof. Dr. Hans-Dieter Evers, Senior Fellow at ZEF, signed the MoU on behalf of University of Bonn. The consortium intends to foster natural and social science research on biodiversity and the environment and enable student exchange and the use of research facilities.
Dr. Haji Zulkarnain bin Haji Hanafi, Vice-Chancellor of the Universiti
Brunei Darussalam and his academic advisor, Prof. Tong Chee Kiong invited
scientists and graduate students to use the university's Tanjung Belalong
Field Studies Centre in Borneo's rain forest, a biodiversity hotspot.
Hans-Dieter Evers presented ZEF’s research on biodiversity, in particular the project on the use and conservation of wild coffee in Ethiopia.
