DESCRIPTION:Marthe Wandou is a renowned Cameroonian human rights and peace
  advocate who has been working for civil society in Northern Cameroon sinc
 e the 1990s. She studied law at the University of Yaoundé\, Project Manag
 ement at the Catholic University of Central Africa\, and Gender Studies at
  the University of Antwerp\, Belgium. In 1998\, Marthe Wandou founded the 
 NGO Action Locale pour un Développement Participatif et Autogéré (ALDEP
 A) in Maroua\, Region Extrême-Nord\, to provide support and education for
  women who are victims of discrimination\, violence and kidnapping. ALDEPA
  also provides support for children who are victimized by Boko Haram. In 2
 021\, Marthe Wandou was awarded with the Right Livelihood Award\, the so-c
 alled “Alternative Nobel Prize”\, in Stockholm\, becoming the first Ca
 meroonian to receive this award.
