Mayra Martin Espinosa is a doctoral candidate in philosophy in the field of Development Studies at ZEF. Her doctoral dissertation examines how the increasing online communication and mobilization of the Colombian non-governmental sector and their target populations during the COVID-19 pandemic might shape transformative action in the country. Findings confirm the principle of inclusion and exclusion of ICT-based networks and stress the key role of participation and interaction, the adequacy of ICTs and ownership of the communication process in enabling transformative action. Mayra holds a master’s degree in Management of Non-Profit Organizations from the University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück and a bachelor’s degree in Foreign Languages from Universidad EAN in Colombia. Her professional experience includes coordinating donor-funded projects and strengthening civil society networks.
