Dr. Emmanuel Derbile

Dr. Emmanuel K. Derbile is currently Associate Professor in Development Planning and the Acting Pro-Vice Chancellor at the SD Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies, Wa.

He holds a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Bonn (Germany) and MSc. in Development Planning and Management from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (Ghana)/University of Dortmund (Germany). He obtained his BA Degree in Integrated Development Studies from the University for Development Studies, Ghana and a Certificate in Management of Development Organizations from the St. Francis Xavier University (Canada). Derbile has taught several courses both at the postgraduate and undergraduate levels. He has researched and published extensively in both local and foreign scientific outlets and has to his credit over 40 refereed journal articles and a book. He has served as Acting Principal of Campus, Dean of Faculty for two-terms, Vice-Dean, Head of Department, Coordinator of Postgraduate Programs and Coordinator for Community Outreach Programs. He has also served as Member of the Governing Council of Universities, UDS and is currently part of the UBIDS Council. Prof. Derbile has led and co-led the implementation of about 13 projects, including research and institutional development projects in the University. Prof. Derbile has also led over 20 consultancy projects in several areas, including baseline studies, evaluative research, gender studies and analysis, sustainability studies, and strategic planning and training for national and international NGOs and public sector agencies in Ghana. At one time, he served as a Commissioner of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) of Ghana, and at the Commission, served as Convener and Member of the Infrastructure and Human Settlement Planning Committee, Member of the Executive Committee and Member of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Management Committee.
