May 21st, 2023: #More than Weeds: Explore the plants in your city, organised by Leibniz Institute for the Analysis of Biodiversity Change - Project FörTax and the Biodiversity Network Bonn; Contact persons: Dr. Nicole Nöske (LIB; N.Noeske@leibniz-lib.de) and Jun-Prof. Dr. Lisa Biber-Freudenberger (ZEF; lfreuden@uni-bonn.de). With the Bonn "More than Weeds” tours we would like to draw attention to the hidden and spectacular diversity of plants in our city, which unfortunately is often unpopular. We offered three short tours (one also in English) during the Biodiversity Day in the Botanic Gardens Bonn to familiarize participants with the plant documentation method for more plant awareness. Together, we took a closer look at the urban diversity of plants in the streets around the botanic garden and explore what grows in the cracks in the pavement and wall joints. Photos were shared on our social media channels under the hashtag #Morethanweeds. This is how we document the plant rebels in our city and make them known. The FörTax project and the Bonn biodiversity network are jointly supporting the 2023 “More than Weeds” campaign week launched by Senckenberg, the University of Freiburg and Flora Incognita.
