ZEF alumnus Sofyan Syahnur appointed full professor at Universitas Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh, in Indonesia

ZEF-alumnus Sofyan Syahnur was appointed full professor by the Rector of Universitas Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh, in Indonesia, on July 18, 2023.

Dr. Syahnur is a macroeconomist by training and, accordingly, his professorship at the Universitas Syiah Kuala is in macroeconomics. Sofyan was appointed professor together with his wife, Yossi Diantimala, who obtained a full professorship in financial accounting at the same university. 

Sofyan Syahnur was a DAAD-funded doctoral student at ZEF, University of Bonn, 2005-2009. During this period he studied economics at ZEF's Department for Economic and Technological Change.

He received his doctoral degree from the University of Bonn's Faculty of Agriculture in 2009. Read more in his CV here.

His doctoral research was supervised by professors Klaus Frohberg (director at ZEF at the time) and Thomas Heckelei  (Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bonn).
