Start of the new academic year of the University of Bonn

The start of the new academic year of the University of Bonn is made available to university members and the public. The President of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Prof. Dr. Joybrato Mukherjee, was invited as keynote speaker. In addition to insights into current developments and outlooks, which Rector Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Michael Hoch will give, the Vice Rector for International Affairs, Prof. Dr. Stephan Conermann, will present the University of Bonn's Internationalization Strategy 2020 in a keynote lecture entitled "WE foster networks". The Chairman of the General Students' Committee (AStA), Sander Hartkamp, will speak from a student perspective.

In a panel discussion, Bonn-based Anglist Prof. Dr. Irina Dumitrescu, Dr. Dennis Lucy Avilés Irahola from the Center for Development Research (ZEF) and Sredeevi Raghu, student in the Master's program Neurosciences, will talk about international experiences in times of corona. Maike Krebber and Florian Barnickel from bonnFM, the student campus radio of the university, will moderate the event.

During the event, outstanding young researchers will also be honored with the State Prizes, the Prix de la République française, the Premio Rey de España and the Queen's Prize, the initiative prize "Impulses for digitally supported teaching" and the DAAD Prize. The musical accompaniment will be provided by the International Choir under the direction of Martin Kirchharz and the Jazz Choir of the University of Bonn under the direction of Jan-Hendrik Hermann, who will be on stage digitally.
