State, economy and nature in Vietnam's emerging market economy

This lecture by Professor Melanie Beresford, Department of Economics, Macquarie University, Australia, deals with Vietnam's emerging market economy.
About the author:
Prof. Beresford studied politics and history at Adelaide University before switching to Economics at the University of Cambridge. Her book entitled 'Unification and Economic Development in Vietnam' (published by Macmillan in 1989) established her as one of the leading scholars on the political economy of Vietnam (and other countries in transition). During the past 25 years, she published extensively on Vietnam, China and Cambodia. She is currently working at the Macquarie University (Australia), where she is engaged in research projects on 'The role of networks in Vietnamese agricultural development', the 'Impact of Vietnamese economic reforms on gender relations' and 'The dynamics of the garment industry in the Asia-Pacific region'.
