Official start of the Crossroads Asia project in Berlin

The research project and competence network Crossroads Asia officially started with a large opening ceremony in the premises of the Parliamentary Association in Berlin on April 7, 2011. About 150 scientists, politicians, journalists and media representatives attended.

Foundation fiat panis supports research on food security

A new grant, made available by the Foundation fiat panis in Ulm, Germany, provides doctoral students of the Center for Development Research (ZEF) at the University of Bonn and of the Food Security Center at the University of Hohenheim with funds amounting to 250 thousand Euros per annum for research on food security and rural development in developing countries.

In the 2010 ‘To Go To Think Tanks’ ranking, ZEF is - for the second year in a row - among the top 5% of all worldwide evaluated Think Tanks (more than 6,000 in 120 countries). ZEF holds position 5 among the Top 10 of Science and Technology Think Tanks and position 14 among the Best University affiliated Think Tank.

ZEF alumna wins this year's GDN award with research on micro finance

Joy Kiiru, ZEF alumna from Kenya, won this year’s “Medal for Research on Development” in the category “Innovative Sources of Development Finances”. The prize was awarded by the Global Development Network (GDN) at its 12th Annual Global Development Conference taking place in Bogotá, Colombia, from January 13-15, 2011.
