Apply now for the ZEF doctoral studies program (BIGS-DR) 2018/2019!

ZEF is looking for doctoral students for the year 2018/2019! If you are interested in joining this excellent international doctoral program and at the same time apply for a DAAD scholarship, please note that the application deadline is August 31, 2017.
For a successful application you need an excellent master or equivalent degree (G.P.A. higher than 3.0 in the American system, or a grade higher than 2.0 in the German system or equivalent). Your application must contain a <link file:2437 download external link in new>Graduate Research Statement. The statement should describe a development problem you consider interesting and important; include your main research questions and the proposed methods linked to them; and have literature references. The statement should have a maximum of 4 pages. Your Graduate Research Statement may relate to <link http: www.zef.de _blank external-link-new-window external link in new>ZEF's research areas in a broad sense of may address a topic in another development research area. The selection committee will assess all research statements on the basis of orgininality, analytical rigor, and relevance.
The deadline for applying for a scholarship via DAAD is August 31, 2017.
For independent and external scholarship applicants, you may submit your complete application documents at any time, particularly if you already have a scholarship or if you want to apply for a scholarship not provided by DAAD. These funding institutions often have their own deadlines, so be sure to inform BIGS-DR accordingly by including any deadlines in your motivation letter.
The BIGS-DR courses start on October 1, annually.
