ZEF alumna received Josef G. Knoll European Science Award

ZEF alumna Denise Margaret S. Matias obtained the <link http: www.stiftung-fiat-panis.de en science-awards josef-g-knoll external-link-new-window internal link in current>Josef G. Knoll European Science Award by the <link http: www.stiftung-fiat-panis.de de external-link-new-window internal link in current>foundation fiat panis for her doctoral thesis written at ZEF.  The prize was awarded today, September 17, 2018, on the occasion of the <link http: www.tropentag.de external-link-new-window internal link in current>Tropentag 2018 in Ghent, Belgium.

<link https: www.zef.de external-link-new-window internal link in current>Denise Margaret S. Matias has conducted her doctoral research at ZEF and obtained her doctoral degree from the University of Bonn (Faculty of Agriculture). Her research was funded by <link https: www.daad.de de external-link-new-window internal link in current>DAAD.

She conducted her awarded research on the topic of “<link https: link.springer.com epdf external-link-new-window internal link in current>Sustainability of community forestry enterprises: indigenous wild honey gathering in the UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve Palawan, Philippines”.  Her research was supervised by ZEF-director Christian Borgemeister.

The award is granted every two years to three outstanding doctoral publications addressing the issue of global food security. The prize is awarded by the fiat panis foundation in Ulm and endowed with 10,000 € for each Award winner.

After finishing her graduation, Denise Matias started working with the <link https: www.zef.de typo3 www.die-gdi.de en denise-matias external-link-new-window internal link in current>German Development Institute GDI/DIE in Bonn.
