INTERFACES starts training sessions for researchers from support-projects COINS, DecLare, Inforange, and Minodu

The INTERFACES project started its first online training-session for researchers of the four regional projects supported by INTERFACES on July 25, 2023. Hannah Jaenicke (ZEF), leader of Work Package 4.1 ‘Seminar and colloquium series for scientists and R&D project partners’, welcomed the the 15 participants and informed them about further upcoming training opportunities through INTERFACES.
Constance Akurugu (SD Dombo University of Business & Integrated Development Studies, SDD-UBIDS, in Ghana) and Tina Beuchelt (ZEF) followed up and introduced the participants from COINS, DecLare, Inforange, and Minodu to their training on “Gender in research and implementation processes".
The first training session started with a general introduction to gender and gender issues as well as gender issues in sustainable agriculture/land management through lectures and interactive group discussions. Further sessions are scheduled for August 1, 8, 15 and 22, 2023.
Background
INTERFACES is a project led by ZEF and funded by the federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) within its program line Forschung für Nachhaltigkeit (fona). INTERFACES is an accompanying project that supports four BMBF-funded regional research and development projects COINS (based at the German Earth Observation DLR), DecLaRe (based at University of Kassel, Germany), InfoRange (based at das Deutsche Institut für tropische und subtropische Landwirtschaft ditsl), and Minodu (see information on fona) in their endeavor to drive change for sustainable land management in Sub-Saharan Africa.
