ZEF Distinguished Professor Joachim von Braun was named Goodwill Ambassador for Bioeconomy and Sustainable Development by the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), on January 22, 2024. The recognition came at a ceremony attended by Latin American ministers during the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture in Berlin. Professor von Braun who is known for global contributions to sustainable agrifood systems, emphasized the opportunity for G20 countries in Latin America to lead the global bioeconomy agenda. His appointment aligns with IICA's focus on sustainable development, including food security, gender equality, and responsible production.
