Unsafe food affects two Billion people and especially the poor

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition and the Pontifical Academy of Science released a Declaration on "Food Safety and Healthy Diets for All" on October 26, 2018.

It is based on a Workshop on Food Safety and Healthy Diets held in the Vatican, September 12-13, 2018. It is signed by 27 experts in food and nutrition issues, as well as policy and religious leaders. ZEF Director and Pontifical Academy President Joachim von Braun co-organized and chaired the workshop, in which Directors General of FAO and WHO participated.

The workshop prepared for the agenda of an upcoming global conference on food safety by WHO and FAO scheduled for February 2019 in Addis Ababa.
