ZEF economists receive prestigious awards at international conference in Milan

ZEF researchers won prestigious awards at the 29th tri-annual International Conference of Agricultural Economists (ICAE) in Milan, Italy, on August 13, 2015, in which more than 1200 researchers from about 70 countries participated. They received the awards for best contributed papers in both categories of oral and visual presentations.

ZEF junior researcher <link http: www.zef.de external link in new>Elias Cisneros (with co-authors Sophie Zhou and Jan Börner) won the T.W. Schultz Award (named after Nobel Laureate T.W. Schultz) for best paper in the category oral with his paper on: Forest Law Enforcement through district blacklisting in the Brazilian Amazon. ZEF junior researcher <link http: www.zef.de external link in new>Oliver K. Kirui (with co-author Alisher Mirzabaev) won the N. Westermarck Award (named after the former President of the IAAE) for best paper in the category visual with his poster on Costs of Land Degradation in East Africa.
