This year's "Justus von Liebig" Prize for World Food issues awarded to ZEF Director Joachim von Braun

The Justus von Liebig Prize for World Food issues is awarded bi-annually by the foundation fiat panis in Ulm. On November 11, the foundation awarded its Prize to "the internationally acknowledged agro-economist Professor Joachim von Braun", director and co-founder of ZEF.

During the ceremony on November 11 at the University of Hohenheim, von Braun was honored: "As former Director General of the Washington-based International Food Policy Research Institute in Washington (IFPRI) he is the most renowned German scientist in the field of food security worldwide".

The Justus von Liebig Prize for World Food issues recognizes outstanding achievements in terms of improving world food security or generating relief for the consequences of malnutrition and undernourishment. It is being awarded biannually with a sum of 25,000 Euros.
