DEVELOPMENT GATEWAY AWARD 2005 FINALISTS SELECTED - Six finalists have been selected for this year's Development Gateway Award for outstanding achievement
in using information technology to improve people's lives in developing countries. Their work supports tsunami recovery, improving farmers' livelihoods,
and more. The finalists are: ITC e-Choupal and Madhya Pradesh Agency for Promotion of Information Technology, both in India; Modemmujer, in Mexico; Prodem
Fondo Financiero Privado, in Bolivia; Radio News Agency 68H, in Indonesia; and Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation, in the U.S.A.

FEATURED PARTNER: GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT NETWORK (GDN) - Global Development Network has joined the Development Gateway as a partner on the Poverty, Environment

MOZAMBIQUE E-GOVERNMENT SUCCESS SUPPORTED BY DEVELOPMENT GATEWAY - The Government of Mozambique has implemented an e-government pilot project connecting 15
national public administration entities in Maputo. The initiative was funded through the Development Gateway's e-Government Grants Program, in partnership
with the Government of Italy. This joint program aims to increase transparency and efficiency in government decision-making and operations, while helping
to fulfill national e-government strategies.

INDIAN PARTNER DEVELOPS SOFTWARE BENEFITING RURAL COMMUNITIES - Bangalore's Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), a partner in the
Development Gateway ITC Research and Training Center in India, has developed two software applications catering to the needs of people in rural areas. The
first, called Vyapar, is an online trading tool. The second, ECKO, provides a framework for building e-communities through collaboration and knowledge
sharing. The software is being piloted with local organizations in India.

MAURITANIA dgMARKET OPERATIONAL - Mauritania's Country Gateway has launched Mauritania dgMarket, a local version of our global dgMarket online tender
listing system. Mauritania dgMarket is in an early stage, but aims to increase transparency in public procurement while widening bidding opportunities.
This is the eighth local implementation of our dgMarket system. The global dgMarket lists over 40,000 tender opportunities on any given day.

ARMENIA DEVELOPMENT GATEWAY WINS NATIONAL CONTEST - The Armenia Development Gateway's Electronic Armenian Foundation (http://www.gateway.am) is a winner in
the Matshots-1600 e-Content All Armenian Contest. The eight winners in the contest will represent Armenia at the World Summit on the Information Society in
Tunis, November 16-18, 2005.

consists of more than 1,000 photos. The second most popular item was "An Enhanced Strategy for Reducing Extreme Poverty by the Year 2015," an interim
report of the Millennium Project Task Force on Poverty and Economic Development.
