You are kindly invited to join our upcoming lecture on "Mapping mining corporate strategies: the case of Vale S.A., Brazil's largest mining company" by Professor Bruno Milanez from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora in Brazil.
Abstract
Professor Milanez will introduce a model which can analyze corporative strategies and is based on the Global Production Network framework. The scheme considers relations involving economic and non-economic actors and looks at market, financial, institutional, labour, social and territorial strategies. The framework will then be applied to the case of Vale S.A., the largest mining corporation in Brazil.
About the speaker
Professor Bruno Milanez is an Industrial Engineer with a PhD in Environmental Policy. He is an Associate Professor at the Engineering School and the Geography Graduate Programme at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora in Brazil, where he coordinates the research group on Politics, Economics, Mining, Environment and Society (PoEMAS).
Professor Milanez is currently taking part in a workshop on “Experiences on Environmental Conflicts in Colombia and Brazil”, which is part of the ASA 2023 program of Engagement Global.
