“Transforming water management: The promise of integrated Earth Observations”.
Speaker: Richard Lawford
Richard Lawford is the former executive director of the Global Energy
and Water Experiment Project (GEWEX) of the World Climate Research Programme
Time and place:

Richard Lawford is a member of the scientific steering committee of the Global Water System Project (GWSP). Mr. Lawford served as the director of the international GEWEX project office from 2004 -2008. Previously he worked for more than eight years for the University Corporation of Atmospheric Research with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as the program manager for the GEWEX Americas Prediction Project.
Together with the International Institute for Sustainable Development he explores the linkages between Earth observations of water and climate as they relate to observational methodologies (including satellites), data processing and visualization systems, information interpretation and the use of information in decision support and policy development. His specific areas of application involve climate and hydrological information, water resources management and capacity building.
The Water Lecture series is a joint series organized by the Center for Development Research (ZEF), the UN-Water Decade Programme on Capacity Development (UNW-DPC), the United Nations University (UNU) in Bonn, and the Global Water System Project (GWSP).
