About the speaker
Catherine is Senior Lecturer in Environmental Sociology and Planning at Charles Sturt University, Albury Wodonga campus, Australia. She is also a member of the Sustainable Water Strategic Research Area of the Institute of Land, Water and Society (http://www.csu.edu.au/research/ilws/ ).
Catherine’s research focus is regional scale adaptive management, in particular the social learning, evaluation and institutional aspects of this complex but fascinating topic. Adaptive management and social learning cut across many disciplinary areas, including water governance, which has been one of Catherine’s focal areas for the past four years, with particular interest in the Murray-Darling Basin. Visit http://athene.csu.edu.au/~callan/ for details of Catherine’s research and publications.
Catherine’s sabbatical time in 2012 is to allow her to consolidate her thinking around the theoretical and practical issues of integrating various ways of framing and understanding the world in ways that enhance systemic action for improved sustainability.
