Most important questions in development?

What are the most important questions in development? What are the critical bottlenecks which policy makers need to address in order to achieve poverty-reduction targets?

The new International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) will support a program of high quality evaluation studies to answer these "most important questions". 3ie is inviting your help in identifying the critical issues to be addressed.

There is common agreement on development goals - such as universal quality basic education or clean water for all - but policy makers need guidance on how to achieve these goals. The questions 3ie will study will provide this guidance, and so be targeted at sectoral bottlenecks, such as how to reduce teacher absenteeism, achieve full immunization coverage, or promote diversification into high value crops.

Please send your suggested questions for 3ie to enduring_questions@3ieimpact.org . All suggestions will be added to a long list (which can be viewed at www.3ieimpact.org/thelonglist ) to be shortened through a process of global consultations.
