Reader/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer (three posts)

Senior Lecturer/Reader: £42,791 - £49,606 per annum (effective 01/05/08)

 

Lecturer: £35,858 to £41,545 per annum (effective 01/05/08)

 

 

 

The School of Development Studies (www.uea.ac.uk/dev) is making three appointments to strengthen work in politics, social development, and natural resources and the environment. Regional interests (e.g. Latin America, China) are welcome for the posts and successful applicants will become members of the Overseas Development Group. Key responsibilities are to teach and direct at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, teach in development studies more generally, and be research active, including the recruitment and supervision of doctoral research students.

 

 

 

For the politics and international development post, we welcome applications in any field of politics and development, but especially welcome those working on law and human rights, conflict and governance, private sector issues, or culture, religion and identity.

 

 

 

For the social development post, we welcome applications in any field of social science and development, but especially welcome those working on social and human development, health, gender, education, conflict, culture, religion and identity.

 

 

 

For the natural resources and environment post, we welcome natural or social scientist applicants from a wide range of subject areas, and identify climate change and/or agricultural or natural resources management (e.g. soils, fisheries, water) as being areas of special interest.

 

 

 

It is essential you have a PhD or equivalent qualification or if not held (for Lecturer posts only) be awarded a PhD within 3 months of commencing in post; a record of research and publications commensurate with the level of post applied for; evidence of successful teaching and willingness to work in an interdisciplinary research and teaching environment. The posts will be available from 1 August 2008 on a full-time basis.
