The German Academic Exchange Service DAAD, with funds of the German Federal Foreign Ministry under the “Aktion Afrika Initiative”, has granted a 5-year phase out funding for the Ghanaian-German Center for Development Studies.

ZEF will receive 90,000 € annually from 2019 until 2023 to continue the successful partnership with the Institute of Statistical Social and Economic Research ISSER at the University of Ghana. The Ghanaian-German Center for Development Studies will continue to provide stipends and support training and supervision of PhD-students in Development Studies at the University of Ghana. Furthermore, it will facilitate academic networking, research visits at ZEF, and conference travel for GGCCDS staff, students and alumni.

The GGCDS will also continue to serve as a platform for the highly successful cooperation of ZEF and ISSER in the development of research and capacity building projects. At ZEF the project is coordinated and managed by project leader Dr. Wolfram laube and project coordinator Christian Petersheim.
