SEAMEO-SEARCA Offers Scholarships and Grants

 

 

The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) invites qualified individuals to apply for the following scholarships and grants:

 

 

PhD RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIPS

Open to Southeast Asian (SEA) PhD students in agriculture or related fields whose research focuses on SEARCA’s priority thrusts of agricultural competitiveness and/or natural resource management. Scholars are required to stay for two months at SEARCA, located in the Philippines, and present a seminar related to the research. Scholarship support is up to US$8,400 per awardee. Deadline for application is every 1 April.

 

 

GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS

Open to SEA nationals who will pursue MS and PhD in agriculture and related fields. Applications must go through respective countries’ Ministry of Education, which will endorse and submit applications to SEARCA. Scholars may study at the University of the Philippines (UP) Los Baños, UP Diliman, UP Visayas, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Kasetsart University in Thailand, Institut Pertanian Bogor or Universitas Gadjah Mada in Indonesia. Deadline for application is every 30 July.

 

 

TRAVEL GRANTS

Open to all staff members of development-oriented institutions or graduate students of reputable universities in Southeast Asia. The grant provides opportunities to present papers in scientific conferences or fora, locally or internationally. Travel grant is up to US$1,200 per awardee. Applications must be received at SEARCA at least two months before the date of travel.

 

 

SEED FUND FOR RESEARCH AND TRAINING (SFRT)

Open to all SEA graduates of at least a four-year degree without significant funding support. Proposals to be submitted should be within SEARCA’s priority thrusts of natural resource management and agricultural competitiveness. The proposed project (preferably applied research) should be innovative and is accompanied by an appropriate plan for developing it into a potentially large-scale research/training program greatly relevant to the agricultural and development needs of the region. A maximum of US$15,000 will be provided as start-up fund. Deadline of submission is every 1 September.

 

 

VISITING RESEARCH FELLOW (VRF)

Open to all reputable researchers within and outside the SEA region who are doing research along with the agricultural and rural development thrusts of SEARCA. The objective is to improve the technical expertise and managerial skills of agriculture and development practitioners who can assist in improving agricultural and rural development of SEA. The appointment depends on the duration of his/her project. Application is year-round.

 

 

SEARCA ADJUNCT FELLOWS (SAF) PROGRAM

Open to all budding researchers of the University of the Philippines System to help nurture and advance their research interests and capabilities as well as expand their research horizons. SAF Program aims to promote the productivity of and regard for the University through publication of the Adjunct Fellows’ outputs, wherein the University would be duly credited along with SEARCA and other involved parties. Initiatives to be undertaken by the Adjunct Fellows should align with the Center’s priority thrusts. Application is year-round.
