  • 10/2012: A Biodiversity Conservation Workshop was conducted in which PhD students presented some of their findings
     
  • 09/2012: Three Ethiopian PhD students of Batch 2010 took courses at the University of Würzburg
     
  • 09/2012: Seven new PhD students started their course work as Batch 2012
     
  • 07/2012: an internal workshop was conducted at EiABC in Addis Ababa in which the regulations of the PhD programme were redefined
     
  • 11/2011: batch 2010 finished its course work and started with field work
     
  • 11/2011: a field excursion to Nech Sar and Mago National Parks was conducted with all staff and students
     
  • 10/2011: six new PhD students started their course work as Batch 2011
     
  • 10/2011: a workshop on “Planning for Biodiversity Conservation” was conducted at EiABC
     
  • 2011: a small library for PhD Program was equipped with up-to-date scientific literature otherwise not available in Ethiopia
     
  • 11/2010: a PhD Program Inaugural Workshop was conducted at EIABC
     
  • 11/2010: the eight first PhD students started their course work as Batch 2010
     
  • 11/2010: students of Batch 2010 conducted a field excursion to the afromontane,transitional Guineo-Gongolian rainforests of South-western Ethiopia
     
  • 10/2010 - 02/2011: two German students from IUP Hannover, Milena Borsdorff and Tabea Klute, conducted an internship at EiABC. They produced GIS-based maps on human impacts on the vegetation cover in the Awash National Park, South-central Ethiopia.
     
  • 2010: the technical infrastructure (laptops, printers, etc.) were purchased and installed at EiABC
     
  • 07/2010: the Addis Ababa University Supervisory Board approved the PhD curriculum and issued a direction to launch the program
     
  • 2010: the full PhD curriculum based on high academic quality, applied interdisciplinary and the regulations of the Addis Ababa University was developed and submitted to the Graduate Council of Addis Ababa University.
